Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Ongoing and personalised transitions to and from school.
At our school, we understand that starting Kindergarten or moving into Year 7 can be a big step for your child. That’s why we offer extended and ongoing transition support to help every student feel comfortable and confident.
These transition programs are designed to fit the unique needs of each child. We work closely with you and your child to make the move as smooth as possible. Throughout the process, we keep in regular contact with your family to share updates and listen to any questions or concerns.
Extensive opportunities in the arts.
Our school offers many wonderful opportunities for students to learn and shine in the creative arts. Students can take part in the Festival of Choral Music and the Festival of Instrumental Music, where they perform with other schools. We also have a school band and offer strings lessons for those who want to learn instruments. Every three years, all students come together to celebrate their talents at our whole school gala concert. These activities help students build confidence, work as a team, and enjoy making music and art in a fun and supportive environment.
Sport programs within and beyond the school.
Our school competes with other schools in sports like soccer, netball, and Oz Tag. All students can try out for these teams. Students in Years 3 to 6 also take part in swimming, athletics, and cross country carnivals. We focus on teamwork and helping everyone build their skills while playing in a friendly, competitive environment. Joining a team is a great way to stay active, make friends, and enjoy sports. We encourage all students to give it a go and have fun learning and playing together.
Community garden program.
Our school runs a community garden program in partnership with the P&C. Each year, students take part in garden lessons for one term. These lessons teach about sustainability and how to care for the environment. Students learn how growing plants helps protect nature and saves resources. The program encourages students to be eco-friendly by understanding the importance of looking after our planet for the future. It’s a fun, hands-on way to learn about nature
"We have been a part of this wonderful school community for the past 10 years, One of the things we’ve always loved is the small school feel, which creates such a warm and welcoming environment. The teachers and admin staff are incredibly supportive, approachable, and always willing to help. Their friendly and caring nature has made our children’s schooling years a really positive experience. We are so thankful to be part of such a nurturing community.” — a parent of Ferncourt Public School
